THE ABANDONED VILLAGES

The abandoned villages are wonderful places scattered here and there in Sicily that the first times I have noticed by chance, then intrigued by their particular realization I began to study them and when I discovered with amazement that there are so many around, then off to new discoveries. First of all, their charm is the difficulty in finding them, or in reaching them. Sometimes it is a real tour to do with a 4x4 because of the incredible roads that you pass to reach them, however it is nice that while you wander through barren streets and see around you only yellow fields, a few trees and the only thing you feel is the wind that makes your the ears dance. Once you get there, it seems that time has suddenly stopped or you feel yourself in the cast of a motion picture film. Each of them tells many stories of life lived by the Sicilian people in the last century, and each of them tells a succession of very important historical periods. They are real treasures of dreams and realities, ideals for those who enjoy taking pictures. I often go there and usually the only view around you is worth it the walk.
